This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are a delightful bunch. They come every day, ready to learn and with a smile. I teach English learners in a high-poverty school where all of the students receive free breakfast and lunch.
My students are eager learners who know that hard work and perseverance will help them attain their goals for success.
As a teacher, I do my best to provide differentiated instruction to meet my students' everyday needs. I believe every student should get every opportunity to learn.
My Project
My students need more exposure to nonfiction readers. Students should have a variety of genres available to read.
They need more accessible texts that will inspire them to read during independent reading time.
My students have become bored with the same old narrative stories we have available in the classroom. They look forward to checking out books from our school library because there is a variety of nonfiction books to explore. We are going to start our unit of informational writing, and these Eyewitness nonfiction books will help them write all they know about polar bears to rockets. The best part is that these books are for emerging to fluent readers.
