My Project
My students enjoy reading novels, but they're always asking me for books with characters who look like them. They are especially interested if the author is a person of color like most of them are.
My students light up when they see a book with a story about a kid whose life is like theirs--and with an author photo on the back who looks like them.
I want my students to be able to look at our bookshelves and be able to choose books that will show them that stories like theirs are valued!
