This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I want the best for my students. Everyday you can find us working to become more mature readers and writers by learning new strategies. I teach an amazing group of kindergarten ELL students. They live in New York City.
In my classroom, I have twenty-five wonderful English language learners who are excited to come to school and are curious each day for what adventures will happen.
My students come from an underprivileged area where many of them come from uneven upbringings. Although some struggles continue at home, they still come to school everyday with smiles on their faces ready to learn!
My Project
Reading A-Z materials are a great addition to our reading program. The students will have access to many engaging fiction and non-fiction books. Reading A to Z also provides the students with different activities to boost comprehension, vocabulary and fluency. It is important that children have a reason to read, and the activities with these books will help the students realize that we do have to go back to the text for deeper understanding of what we have read.
Students not only will have access to these books at school but also at home!
They need many opportunities and resources to help them become better readers. Many children don't have access to physical books at home to practice their reading. With these resources Reading A-Z program students will have access to many, many books and be able to practice reading strategies and become strong readers everyday.
Many of the books are of interest and engaging to students. This will help support the foundation for the importance of reading and build a love relationship with books.
