Help me give my students the tools to become successful readers, writers and thinkers with the help of writing folders, journals and writing tools.

My Students

I teach a wonderful group of students from diverse backgrounds. Many of our students are English Language Learners and this kindergarten year is their first experience in a school setting. My school provides 100% free breakfast and lunch to our students.

My students are creative and eager to learn!

My students are in an inclusion classroom where I strive to provide them with a well balanced curriculum which includes reading, writing , math, arts and STEM.

This year my students will be using a new writing curriculum that will help them to become more active readers, writers and thinkers. We will be utilizing a writers workshop model which will be inclusive to all learners. With the help of donated materials, or writing station will be well organized and my students will be able to have a successful year of writing.

My Project

Writers workshop is an integral part of a Kindergarten classroom. In Kindergarten students start the reading and writing process by talking and sharing their ideas. As they become more comfortable with sharing, students begin to draw and eventually write about all of their ideas. This year we are using a new writers workshop curriculum. Organization will be the key to helping my students become successful readers and writers.

My students need writers workshop materials to help become organized writers and thinkers.

Students will have labeled writers workshop folders and writing journals to help keep them organized. They will use various writing utensils such as pencils and felt tip pens to finalize their writing. Clip boards help students to move freely around the classroom. Whether utilizing the word wall or participating in write around the room, students will feel comfortable writing in all areas of the room.

Students will also be able to take their work from the Art and Poetry centers and add it to their journals with the help of glue sticks .
