This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have 25 highly motivated second language learners who are so excited about learning. They are excited about learning new things. The area that we are located in a high poverty area and 100 percent of the students receive free lunches.
My first grade students are so excited to come to school and enjoy story time everyday.
Every time I say, "Its story time!" my students cheer and when I am done with the story they always applaud. They also feel sad when we only have time for one story.
My students have learned to be like a family. They take care of each other in the classroom by helping each other learn high frequency words and find words around the classroom they might need to know how to spell. They will even ask where a student is or why they didn't come to school.
My Project
My students need to a book stand in the classroom where they can easily find their favorite book titles. This will give me an opportunity to display new book titles. Since my students love going back to the same books I have read during story time they will be thrilled to find them quickly.
What kid doesn't like to learn through their favorite superhero?
This is why I have asked for 6 superhero books that teach students to develop good character skills. Each book focuses on one character skill that is taught by one of the famous DC characters, like Batman, WonderWoman and the Flash.
My students are also in need of scissors with good grips an perfect for all students. They also need thick pencils with erasers for their little hands that are developing pencil grip and name tags that are safe for them. These name tags we will use them for art classes with other teachers and when we go on field trips.
