This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I believe in enhancing children's language, cognitive, and early reading skills by giving them unlimited resources that will assist in that development in and out of the classroom.
My class is a mixture of white, black and Hispanic students. I have a total of 19 students. My students are eager to learn new things such as letter and sound recognition, vocabulary, and sense of story. They are very helpful towards each other when new activities or skills are introduced. My students attend an inner-city school in South Florida in which the majority of them are from single family homes and the median income is at or above the poverty level.
My students are a diverse group of eager learners that need differentiated learning strategies in order to keep up with fast track developmental skills that are implemented.
My students like variety while learning in order to keep them focused on the task(s) at hand. They attend an inner city low poverty school.
My Project
I have requested a The Galaxy Tablet, laptop, and e readers in order for my English language learning students to interactively identify letters and sound and escalate to spelling words as they engage during center time. The Galaxy Tablet, laptop, and e readers will enable my students to use pictures as an activity to match rhyming words, beginning and ending sounds, and vowel sounds.
Did you know that phonological awareness and oral language are two of the best predictors of later reading success? I want my students to be successful as they are learning to read.
The Galaxy Tablet, laptop, and e readers will motivate my students while recognizing letters, words, and the sounds they make.
Also, my students will be able to manipulate sounds as they are challenged visually and orally. Activities will include but are not limited to blending on set and rime, compound words, and syllables. My students will also practice expressive and receptive language skills. The Galaxy Tablet, laptop, and e readers will help capture and keep my students focused while positively learning.
By donating to this project you will definitely help enrich needed skills that are targeted and a must in order to be successful in future reading skills. The Galaxy Tablet is needed technology that will positively impact my students as they master phonological and oral language skills in a unique way.
