Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Being surrounded by a class of opinionated and intelligent curious minds never ceases to amaze me.
My days are a constant shower of excitement, motivation and pride from my lively group of predominantly Latino third graders.
We are a Title 1 school in the San Fernando Valley within the Los Angeles county with a close knit community full of students from various cultural backgrounds. As a Title 1 school, many of our students come from economically disadvantaged households and often cannot donate every year to a new classroom.
My classroom has a diverse mix of students, including our third grade English Learner cluster. My students and I love to learn, experiment, question (everything), and work together to create a fun and caring classroom environment.
My Project
Scholastic Magazine would give my 3rd grade students the opportunity to explore various modern topics in brightly colored, on level articles.
Close readings, relevant topics, and common core standards galore!
My students will thrive in an atmosphere where they can discuss and debate issues relevant to their lives, in multiple subject areas. Each Scholastic Magazine comes full of new information that students will genuinely enjoy. Giving each student his or her own copy ensures that the conversation will continue outside the confines of the school. Students can share their magazines with family and friends and keep them in their own personal libraries. Thank you so much for your contribution to my grateful group of 3rd graders!
