My Students
Encourage students to love to read! What better way than to have an area or gathering place to read your book?
My students are the low average inclusion (SPED) Language Arts class and reading is difficult for them as they do not have a strong desire to read.
As they struggle to learn to read, having an inviting place in the classroom will encourage them to want to read more.
My Project
Having an inviting gathering place to read with bean bag chairs and a carpet will provide the students with a relaxing atmosphere. Currently they have to bring their student chairs to the Reader's Corner and not many students choose to go there as a choice. I want to instill the love of reading by providing the students a "homey" place to read. We could also use the Reader's Corner to meet in small reading groups to discuss what we have read and have book talks.
Your donations to our project will encourage a love of reading and by reading more, the students will gradually improve in their reading skills.
The more the students read, the better readers they will become, and the confidence in their abilities will grow.
