Readers Are the Future

Help me give my students reading bowl books. Every year we compete in our district's Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl competition. We have 10 books to read and learn before the competition. We are excited and eager to start.

My Students

My school serves a large community of English Language Learners. Most of our students come from economically disadvantaged homes. What makes my students special is that a lot of them speak another language at home and have parents who don't speak English at all. Despite these obstacles they come to school daily ready and eager to learn.

Our school is nestled in a little neighborhood that is truly a loving community.

The community and school become more and more diverse every year. Our building is old and small but we make up for it by having an amazing diverse group of teachers who are passionate about what they do and the students they serve.

My Project

We are eager to start reading and preparing for our Reading Bowl competition next year. Having these books will allow us to get a head start on reading this summer. The more time we have with the books the more we will learn them. We want to be prepared to answer the detailed questions we will get at the Reading Bowl.

We are avid readers!

We truly enjoy the books and enjoy competing even more. We are looking forward to winning this year! After the competition all of books will go to our school library for other students to enjoy.
