This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Coming soon to our school, once a week, students will have time to participate in an activity they enjoy, lead by a teacher who also enjoys that activty. Together my students and I will share our love of reading.

"The House in the Cerulean Sea" earns the honor of being the first book of our book group.

It is a fictional book that gets you thinking about the real world. It is an escape to a place where being different doesn't mean bad and accepting others even if they don't fit the world's norms. When we are done visiting this magical place, students will realize a home isn’t necessarily the house we live in, it's also the people we choose to surround ourselves with.

Reading a good book helps make it easier to see life beyond personal experiences and relate to others. Together we will read, reflect and discuss all that "The House in the Cerulean Sea" has to offer.
