Help me give my students an opportunity to continue their interest in reading. With this device I will be able to reach out to my students and connect and continue our weekly story time.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My classroom is the library, and every week I meet with all my school students. My students are from the East Los Angeles community and we are a Title I school, 100% of my students receive free lunch. Our community does not have any bookstore close by and currently our nearest library is also closed.
My Project
This project will help me connect with my students through weekly read aloud as we regularly would in the library. Regular class visits consist of current event topics, read alouds and group discussion. My students not only look forward to learning something new every week, they expect it.
Having a working and fast computer would allow me to connect with my students via zoom and other platforms for our weekly reading and discussion.
I would be able to share with them where to find reading sources while the library is closed.
