My Students
My students are spectacular! We have a diverse group of learners!
There are so many different levels of readers and interests in my classroom.
No library is big enough for this group of learners. We love to read books that interest us! New, engaging literacy centers will impact and enrich my class greatly.
My class is full of high energy 4th graders who love to read! I have no trouble motivating them to use materials on hand. But to reach a higher level, which they are capable of, will require definite enhancement. That is why I am requesting engaging literacy centers.
My Project
The materials I am requesting will allow my students to be engaged in high interest reading activities that will hold their interest while improving their comprehension and vocabulary. Comprehension and acquisition of vocabulary are very important skills my students need to obtain in order to do well in reading. The materials will give students an opportunity to grow in their reading levels by the end of the year. The students mainly focus on non-fiction text and need short passages and text folder games that the materials I am requesting will provide. Using shorter text allows students to become accustomed to reading and analyzing non-fiction text. I hope to purchase Reading Information Text Folder Games, Reading Literature Folder Games, and Grammar and Writing Folder Games. These games will be enjoyable, as well as engaging and educational for all students.
The students read both fiction and non-fiction text and must acquire the skills necessary to comprehend and understand the information presented to them.
The student can use the materials provided by DonorsChoose to enhance knowledge of skills that are necessary to increase their reading level.
In order for students to perform at a maximum level on academic tests, they must be given various opportunities to practice skills they are taught during whole group instruction. The requested centers will make it possible for students to increase their reading comprehension and vocabulary skills to do better on standardized tests.
