This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are so enthusiastic and excited about beginning to read. They love school, but come from a very poor section of Detroit. Most of them never used a computer before this year, and are very excited about technology. Reading skills are so important at the kindergarten level.

Our school is a bilingual school in Southwest Detroit.

Our parents are so supportive and interested in their children's education. Unfortunately, most are very poor. They know that education is the future for their children and desperately want them to learn all they can and succeed. They help the only way they can; by making sure they attend school. I want our school to have the best and most motivating classroom materials for my wonderful students.

My Project

My students want to to read. With Kindles in our classroom, we would have access to Storia book through Scholastic and all sorts of FREE Kindle books. I could guide them by creating bookshelves at their reading levels and suggesting books that are appropriate for their skills.

My students are so enthusiastic about school and learning.

They are so proud of their beginning reading skills and would love a chance to practice them. Kindles would build on that and aid me in guiding their reading.
