Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The 2019-2020 school year will be my fourth year as a middle school teacher and I could not be more grateful! I don't know what I did in life to get so lucky to teach such incredible kids! I currently teach at a K-8 school. Our school is small but we are a family.
My students are some of the kindest, smartest, funniest kids I have ever had the pleasure of meeting and teaching.
They come from all walks of life. Some just came to our country, others are second-generation Americans. They are just awesome! They all truly care about learning which makes my heart swell. My heart belongs to "my kids" and my classroom. My goal is to give them a safe, happy space where they can thrive and be part of an enriching learning experience.
My Project
I teach three different levels (6-8) of English Language Arts. Reading is so important in our classroom. Giving students choices in an array of genres to read is of the utmost importance in order to create life-long readers.
My students need different reading options in our classroom.
If this project is funded, the students will be able to read magazine articles from different Scholastic magazines, gain exposure to real-world issues and events, and be able to have their voice heard as Scholastic does an incredible job with providing educators with activities that encourage and allow students to become involved in social and political issues.
Please help me provide my students with texts that will help expand their thinking and help them become advocates for themselves and others.
