Read With A Furry Vengeance

My students need sixteen books so that they have current materials on wildlife conservation and wildlife habitats.

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Cottingham's classroom raised $353

My Students

By being informed about endangered wildlife and their habitats my students will be empowered to make informed decisions about how to protect the environment they live in. My students lack many of the resources necessary to understand some of the challenges facing our environment today.

I travel between two buildings; 5/6 and 7/8.

We need two copies of each book so that they can have easy access in each building. I service approximately 450 students so sharing materials can be extremely challenging. My students are inquisitive, creative and engaging. They range from special needs students and ELL students to all parts of the socio-economic scale; we are considered a high poverty area. They want to learn and are very receptive to new material but budget cuts in our state have made it very difficult to keep the needed materials available. My students read with a vengeance when given the opportunity. Animals are right up their alley.

My Project

The books I am requesting would be housed in the library and available for use in science, social studies and English classes. They would be especially helpful to my science teachers when they study the environment and the effects that different factors are having on our planet and the things that live on our planet. My students could use these resources when they are completing their seventh and eighth grade research papers. The seventh grade does their papers on a person, place or thing so these resources would be invaluable as a research tool. All of the students are required to use several print resources. My fifth grade science class studies the environment. These would make wonderful supplements to their curriculum.

Budget crunches are always difficult to deal with but donors such as yourself fill the gap and help us provide a quality library for all of our students.

Grants are the life blood of our program and YOU make it possible to give our children the best.
