My students arrive daily with the added weight of having learning disabilities from one of 13 qualifying diagnosis in order to receive Specialized Education. I support them in academic and social learning in order for them to be successful students. These are kids that come to school for the warm inviting atmosphere we create for them to learn at their level and ability. Learning in our room comes from many areas; books, computers, and social interaction with each other. Each day is a new beginning.
My Project
Students in special education need supports at their finger tips when learning. These phonics cards will allow my students to visually see a support for a word they are trying to decode in a book or while practicing spelling activities in class. With the goal of every child in my class getting direct instruction in their area of need these cards and reading sets allow the students to see what letters make the sounds which helps them then on focusing on comprehension. Students who are read aloud with daily can increase their fluency when listening to a teacher guiding the reading.
