This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This is my 24rd year at BE in Grand Prairie. BE is a Title I campus where most students are economically disadvantaged.They do not let that limit them. I've watched students go from our little elementary school to top colleges across America. We have high expectations and try our best to send all students on a pathway to college.

I do all I can to help my students be prepared for a challenging future..

Our world is changing quickly and as educators we have to keep up!

My Project

My 4th grade students need multiple copies of chapter books so we can engage in literature studies. I worked with this same group as 3rd graders and they excelled in reading and writing. They pleaded for more book kits so they can continue to explore and grow together. They pride themselves on debating and having great discussions after chapter readings. Unfortunately our school only has one copy of most books. I strongly believe students that read together, grow together. Book talks encourage self awareness, and evaluating skills. These skills are found in strong leaders. Thank you for supporting a love for books.
