I teach in a Title I school where all students receive free breakfast and lunch each day. My students come from diverse backgrounds and have many different learning styles. Our school is a close knit family, and our students quickly become a part of that. I believe relationships are key in helping me meet my students where they are and move them to the next level.
Many of my fifth graders are beginning to set serious goals about their futures.
It is important to me to value those goals and help them realize, even at a young age, what it takes to achieve them.
My Project
Reading stories about real people helps my students to dream bigger about the possibilities in their own lives. Our classroom is lacking in biographies. Your contribution to this project will help me surround my students with success stories and role models that may not be present in their own lives.
Reading biographies about influential and successful people will inspire my students to dream big.
They will realize that no matter their background, they can achieve their dreams with hard work, determination, and motivation. You never know when a student may change the course of their life by simply reading one book!
