My Project

My kindergarten students need a reading nook to help foster their love for reading. The bookshelf and rug will be used to create a cozy reading nook that my students can use to enjoy a good book. Learning to read is a fundamental part of reading. Creating a space for me students to dive in to books is crucial to help foster a love for reading.

I want my students to fall in love with reading, and offering a relaxing and inviting space to get lost in a book will help make that happen.

My students also need familiar texts to dig in to. The class loves books written by Mo Willems and David Shannon. These authors are familiar to them. The class enjoys retelling the stories by looking at the pictures and creating their own story. This is a key part of practicing and building oral language in kindergarten They will love to snuggle in and enjoy these new books in our reading nook. With the help of a rug, bookcase, and familiar reading texts my kindergarten students will have a space to grow and develop their love for reading.
