This quote has inspired me as an educator.
I work with an amazing group of children who are eager to learn. I enjoy seeing the excitement in their eyes when we get ready for school every day. My students come from diverse backgrounds which makes them unique. Many of my students come from low-income families; however, they are the best kids on the planet.
Have you ever read that book that you couldn't, or didn't, want to put down? Many of my students experience this often due to an inadequate number of books for them to take home. A variety of books is very scarce in my school. As a product of the 3rd largest school district in the nation and a member of the diverse community in which my school is located, I have observed the challenges my students face in and out of school.
As a school, we are looking at innovative ways to promote a love of reading.
We have purchased a book vending machine to help cultivate a love of reading and get children excited about reading. Students will earn tokens by participating in our school's reward program. With your help, our school can welcome this innovative, inspiring product and begin reaping the benefits immediately! Literacy skills are incredibly important in our everyday lives. With your help, our school will be able to fill this machine with a wide variety of books, promoting reading at school and home, as well as a new excitement for books. I am requesting a set of the Babysitters graphic novels.
