With your donation, students will be embarking on a special project: an all-school Book Club! Each family will receive a copy of the same book and will read it at home throughout the month. Reading aloud at home is valuable because it better prepares students to be effective readers, but it is also a fun, worthwhile family activity. MES is a 100% Title One school, meaning that we are a very low socio-economic school.
With our low-income population, not many students have books in their homes.
This Read to Me! project will have children at all grade levels listening to the same book.
Throughout the month, everyone will be talking about the book, and the students will take pride in knowing and anticipating the details of the story. "When a whole school reads a book, there's a lot to talk about!" We are building a Community of Readers at our school!
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
