Read to Be Seen: Stories by Underrepresented Authors

Help me give my students a classroom library with books written by underrepresented authors because many students don’t often see people like them in stories they read and by adding these books, I hope my students feel seen and valued.

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Morgan's classroom raised $733

My Project

I love how curious, thoughtful, and open-hearted my students are. They come to school eager to learn and ready to explore new ideas, especially through stories. But many of the books currently in our classroom don’t reflect the diverse backgrounds, identities, and experiences of the students who read them.

By building a classroom library filled with books by underrepresented authors—Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Asian, and disabled voices—I hope to create a space where every student can see themselves in the pages of a book.

These stories will also help my students understand and appreciate experiences different from their own.

These books will support reading skills, spark meaningful conversations, and build confidence and empathy in every reader. Your support will help us create a classroom where all students feel seen, valued, and inspired to learn.
