In our Pre-K music class, students sing, move, play, and explore the joy of making music—often for the very first time! Each week, we focus on a new theme that connects music to the world around us—like animals, seasons, feelings, weather, and community helpers. These themes help students build vocabulary, express themselves creatively, and make real-world connections through music.
This project will help us build a collection of age-appropriate, engaging books that align with each weekly learning unit in our music curriculum.
These books will serve as springboards for rhythm games, songs, movement activities, and creative expression, while also supporting early literacy development.
For many of our youngest learners, this will be their first classroom experience with both music and books. Having high-quality read-alouds and browsing books that connect directly to our music learning themes will deepen their understanding and bring the music to life in a meaningful, memorable way.
