My Project

My students are a select group who have not done well in traditional school. Using their hands is a strength and an interest. Creating handmade, beautiful and useful crafts will build self esteem as well as calming the nervous system. They will really enjoy making crafts for their families and friends and learning multiple skills along the way.

The supplies for this project will allow the kids to learn knitting, sewing, crochet, weaving, felting and embroidery.

All the equipment and materials that they need will be at their fingertips as we proceed through a book called Stitch Camp. We will progress through simple skills such as finger crocheting and sewing buttons on homemade pouches and move to more complex projects such as a monster coin pouch for a younger sibling or embroidering their name in cursive.
