This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My first graders are a smart and energetic group of kids who have big dreams and the drive to make them come true! Each one of them comes to school each day with excitement and a desire to gain knowledge despite their poverty and socioeconomic issues.

The students at my school are racially diverse, and many face the added challenge of being English language learners.

They are an awesome group of kids who deserve to learn in a comfortable, resource-filled environment!

My Project

The book series by Diane Alber is perfect for teaching kids life lessons! Through colorful illustrations and engaging humorous text, she finds a simple way to convey basic social skills and feelings whether at home or school.

With the Diane Alber collection of books, I will be able to not only teach about a favorite writer and illustrator but also learn about how to be a good person and citizen!

In doing this, we will laugh along with the author and build our character while learning lessons from her simple, funny characters. There is even a sticker activity book in which we can turn something nonliving into a humorous living character!

She even has books about virtual learning and the current requirements of wearing masks and social distancing. These are very appropriate books for our times!
