My Students
Students need a wide variety of opportunities to experience new and different ways to learn. Our school has great students that are eager to learn, but are limited in their opportunities to experience new and exciting ways to use varying resources. Many of our students come from low to middle-class income families which may hinder their opportunities outside of school.
Our students love hands-on type activities that help them understand and learn concepts better.
They also love to have many resources at their fingertips to learn all that they can. I look forward to helping our students grow as new-age individuals who are confident in their use of varying resources.
My Project
Read & Ride is a project that I would like to have funded for students to read while getting some exercise. This can entice them by offering a fun, different, and physical way to read.
The Read & Ride Program will give students energy and excite them about reading.
This year in my library, I will be providing students the opportunity to experience reading in an exciting and different way. I will create an area for stationary exercise bikes in the library where students will be able to read while riding. They will have the opportunity to listen to a book through a mobile device or read printed books. There will be a stand available for students to rest their book or mobile device on while riding. Teachers will be able to sign students up to have an opportunity to come read and ride throughout the day. It will also be available during recess. To begin with, this opportunity to read and ride will be available to students in 4th and 5th grades. This will also give students an opportunity to experience reading with technology as they listen or read books using the mobile device.
The Stationary Desk Exercise Bike will allow students to experience reading while bettering their health through movement.
