My Students
Tiny children who love to explore tuck into elementary classroom corners to read by themselves. Afterward, they cluster together to share animal facts, talk about their favorite characters, or explain what they wonder now. We aim to foster the love of reading in all of our children, who engage in reading every day for enjoyment and learning.
In our neighborhood elementary school, teachers, staff, and children build a culture of engaging and collaborative learning and instruction each day.
Visitors note our close-knit learning culture, observe diverse collaboration, and watch respectful interactions between children and teachers. From the time that children step off the bus, greeted with a smile and kindness, to the last bus announcement, all know we care about each and every one of them.
My Project
Research shows that when children have a choice in what they read that they are more engaged. We aim to offer children a wide array of texts and magazines about animals, biographies, current events, hot topics, and more to choose from each day as they read to build vocabulary, content knowledge, a love of reading, and stamina.
Please help us put engaging texts in the hands of all of our readers, kindergarten through fourth grade.
These books and magazines will line the shelves of each of our classrooms to develop and improve the love and practice of reading.
