My Students

Malala Yousafzai wrote, "Let us remember: One book, one pen, one child and one teacher can change the world." Students need to read to learn. And what better way to help students develop a love for reading then to provide a variety of choices.

My diverse groups of students this year include, Multilingual Learners (ML), Special Education students, and general education students.

The pandemic has put students in and out of school which in turn has created more gaps in learning. Now we have in person learners and online learners who are broken into further subgroups. The only constant many of these kids have been able to hold on to is a book from our class library.

While the world works through the pandemic, students in school and out are able to use books to dream of a brighter future. They can go on adventures with Captain Hook or climb in a rocket to explore the solar system. Learning can and does still happen when books pave the way.

My Project

The books requested in this project will help students maintain a love for reading. Whether students want to check a book out to read at home or, stay in school and read at their desk. This project provides students with choice. Choice of what to read, when to read, and a variety to read.

Our class library will support students as they read books and grow in their knowledge of the world around them.

The class library will also provide opportunities for siblings of my current students to go on adventures with books.
