Read, Plan, and Stay Organized!

My students need materials (Time for Kids, storage boxes, label maker, teacher planner) to keep up to date on current events and we all need materials to stay organized.

My Students

What makes my students special? They have me for a teacher! This is my second year teaching and my students 6th year in school. My students come from a community that is in need. The school is the only place where I can address their needs and put them first. But meeting needs is not something I can do alone. It takes a village to raise a child, therefore it takes a community to help a classroom.

I believe that all children are capable of learning and deserve the tools to make learning possible.

At our school, we are committed to doing whatever it takes to ensure student academic and social-emotional growth while providing equal educational opportunities in a safe and nurturing learning environment.

My Project

There is a lot that is going on in our world these days. It can be hard for students to understand what is happening. With the right materials and student-friendly text, they can read and understand current events in a fun and entertaining way. Students are always looking for ways to use technology. Now they will have the chance to read both print and digitally.

There comes a time in a students' life when they have to learn how to organize their materials and become responsible for their belongings.

It can be hard to keep items organized. It can be even harder when you don't have materials to stay organized. With this project, students will have a way to keep their table materials organized, keep their belongings in a central location, and have creative ways to make learning fun. I, as the teacher, will model organizational skills through daily actions.

With the photo keeper, I would like to use these to organize close reading boxes for my students. Close reading and reading for detail is an important aspect of the 5th grade curriculum. I would fill these with needed supplies including magnifying glasses so they can become reading detectives. The folders will allow for organization of various classroom papers. As well as small Sterilite drawers will allow for each group to have needed papers and materials in an organized location. The label maker is needed to label various items around the room and student materials so that items are placed back in their proper spots. The TIME for Kids and the I Have, Who Has game will increase students' knowledge of Social Studies through games and current events. Lastly, laminating sheets will allow me to laminate student materials so that some papers and images can be reused.
