My students need 18 high-interest sports related books to get them hooked on reading!

My Students
Teenagers, on average, watch TV for two hours a day -- and read for seven...minutes.
That's why I'm launching "Read More Than You Watch," a campaign to urge students to ditch the TV and get into a good book.
Nearly all of my students will be the first in their family to attend college.
They work hard and dream big.
But they do not read nearly enough. Like most high schoolers, my students read only what the teacher assigns and what's on their phones and Facebook.
That's not enough, of course. For my students to read and write at high levels, they need to be reading voraciously and voluminously.
My Project
That's where "Read More Than You Watch" comes in. For a month, I will challenge my students to spend more time reading than watching TV. My prediction is that this project will result not only in better readers but also in more thoughtful, curious young people.
In order to pull off this campaign, however, I need more books for my classroom library. My students love basketball and soccer, but right now, my selection is weak. With a better sports fiction section, I am hopeful that more of my students, especially boys, will get hooked on reading.
I hope that you will consider contributing to this project.
Can you imagine what I imagine -- students turning off the TV and turning on to books? Rather than watching reality TV, I'd like to see my students forge their own realities through reading.
