E-readers and technology have an amazing impact on students with special needs. My students are reading books that are 1 to 2 levels below their actual grade.
Using an e-reader will build confidence levels in every student.
I work with some amazing kids.
These kids face tough challenges academically. Reading ability affects all subjects. Difficulty reading is not easily overcome in upper grades. They continue to show an enthusiastic work ethic. These students want to succeed!
My Project
Students will be able to take an e-reader into any school setting and not be embarrassed by the level of the book. They will be able to use the e-reader to look up words that are not familiar. They will gain knowledge of the use of technology that may not be available in their household.
Students with special needs have a lot to offer.
They must figure out ways to be able to complete difficult tasks that most of us take for granted.
"Perhaps the world little notes nor long remembers individual acts of kindness -- but people do." -- Herm Albright
My students would benefit from the motivation that an e-reader would provide.
