Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My first grade classroom is a place where students from many backgrounds can come to learn to read and think together. As a teacher in a Title I school, I do everything in my power to build a strong foundation of skills to enable my students' success. They know that this is a place where they will be safe, loved, and encouraged.
Students at Title I schools often arrive without basic reading skills and concepts of print.
I work with a dedicated staff of enthusiastic educators that work tirelessly to bridge the learning gap. Our students are eager and determined.
My Project
So many of my students lack age-appropriate or thought-provoking reading materials at home. I would love the opportunity to extend my students' love of learning and engage their families in the learning we do at school. Multiple readings of familiar text improves fluency and comprehension skills in young learners.
Children that have families that show interest in their learning achieve greater success.
Your donations will enable my students to have a high interest magazine subscription that they can share with their families. These magazines are intriguing to young scholars because they are vibrant and appealing. Thank you for you consideration of my project.
