Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Most mornings I spend the first few minutes checking in with each student to see where their school brain is. Are they hungry, sad, angry, or embarrassed? What can I do to put that first smile on their face and switch their brain into learning mode?

My students are a group of hard-working kids who encounter everyday situations most adults could never even dream of.

My school works hard to create a community where all families feel welcome and safe. We have an almost 90% free or reduced-price lunch rate, and most years families don't have the financial means to purchase school supplies.

My Project

My classroom library is sadly missing quality nonfiction books at varying levels that my students have access to. Every year, they ask me to add more information books of high interest topics.

My students need to be able to have high interest nonfiction books in their hands.

These books will be kept in my classroom library, where students can go to whenever they need to. Students in my class are required to write informational essays frequently, and having these book in my classroom, would make choosing a topic much easier.
