This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My fourth grade students are very loving, caring, and curious. They love being engaged in the classroom and truly appreciate all things donated to the classroom. In addition, these curious fourth graders love learning! My students come from very low socioeconomic backgrounds and do not always have the access to technology.
Our school is 100% free breakfast and lunch.
We have the highest rate of ELL (English language learners) in the state and a high number of special education students.
My Project
The students need reading comprehension kits and fluency kits for the classroom. These kits will be used during small group centers on a daily basis. These kits are wonderful because they offer a wide range of reading levels, interest, and independent or group work. The students currently do not have any reading comprehension or fluency kits in the classroom available to them.
These kits will help improve their reading abilities and confidence.
I am excited to see the engagement these kits offer during small group centers. These kits also put the students in charge of and accountable for their own learning!
