Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have a classroom of sweet kindergartners who come to school each day ready and eager to learn. It is so incredibly rewarding to see their growth from August to May every year. My students come from a low socio-economic background. For most of them, kindergarten is their first school experience.
Each child has an amazingly unique background, personality and way that they learn.
With that being said, I am always looking for ways to make my classroom a safe, comfortable and productive learning environment to ensure the success of my students.
My Project
Every year, I help foster a love for reading in my classroom. I read all different genres of books to my students. I love to make them laugh, think, learn, and grow through reading. They get so excited when it's time for me to read aloud to them! Once they learn their sight words and to blend sounds to read, they take off on their own reading age-appropriate books!
I would like to add new, engaging, relevant books to my classroom library for my students to read and for me to read aloud to them.
I like to use books to teach lessons on emotions, empathy, and being kind. This is so important to learn at a young age. I also like to read fun books that make them laugh and they ask me to read over and over again!
These books will be an excellent asset to my classroom and help my students to truly enjoy reading.
