This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This project would help to expand my classroom library. Students in my classroom get the opportunity to read books at their level. While getting to read books that they can read fluently is amazing, students grow to love reading when they have access to a variety of series. Readers are leaders, and I want to continue to cultivate a group of leaders whose impact will be felt in the world.

Research shows that independent reading helps build language acquisition, results in better writing skills, improves focus and concentration, and reduces stress and anxiety within our students.

This will be my sixth year teaching, and I love that within the past six years, I've been able to see a love of reading grow within so many of my students. I want to continue that love of reading by challenging them to push themselves to grow beyond their level, so that they are well prepared for 5th grade.

Many of our students often do not come reading at a 4th grade reading level. By supporting this project you would be giving my students more access to books at their level that will help them grow. It will also foster a love of reading within our students that will stay with them for many years to come.
