This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My first grade students have been busy tackling the Common Core's First Grade Standards while also concentrating on their specific I.E.P. goals and objectives focused on their language, emotional, and physical needs.
I teach in a high-poverty area in a public city school.
My first graders need grit to face daily challenges both in school and their surroundings. A typical day has my students focused on language, math, technology, science, while also receiving intervention services in reading, speech, occupational therapy, and more.
My Project
I am asking for four different classroom leveled libraries (Level A -Level D). My project will put high quality books in my young readers hands every day. I hope to build a classroom library that features leveled books that will meet my students' needs and spark their interest.
My students are currently reading significantly below grade level.
They have specific goals and objectives on their IEPs targeting literacy. These motivating book collections would make learning accessible while building crucial literacy skills.
All of my students would benefit from spending more time with a good book in their hands. These books will be used in a leveled classroom library to be used every single school day.
