"Have you read any good art books lately?" My art students are going on a trip to learn about immigration in Greenwich Village. We are a Title One School combining a social studies lesson with art.
Our school was worried about putting our students on a bus trip to Manhattan and the bus not getting back to the school on time.
I was able to arrange it so that the educators would come into my school and show their lesson plan in the classroom instead. I try very hard to expose my students to culture and life outside of the classroom, but sometimes it's just not possible. We will have this lesson looking at slides, using the Internet and a discussion on the before and after of the South Village.
We are a Title One School, and I try my best to come up with imaginative lesson plans to engage my students. I teach art, and I incorporate it with other subjects whenever I get the chance. This lesson will involve the social studies teacher as well.
My Project
I am seeking material kits to make a book with my students. After the lesson plan on Immigration on the South Village, I plan on having them make books. These books can help them remember the lesson in a hands on way. My students always remember their lesson when they tie it into a visual and tactile activity.
Art plays an important part in life.
We realize that art is in everything we do. Please help my students to get the materials to make a book on their social studies lesson. Our children are the future of tomorrow, and we need to engage their interest in learning in more creative ways. Thank you so much for caring.
