Help me give my students a stationary bicycle so they can build stronger bodies while building stronger minds—engaging with books in a way that improves focus, fitness, and a lifelong love of reading.
The "Read and Ride" initiative aims to integrate physical activity into our library by equipping reading areas with stationary bicycles. This project will target middle and high school students, encouraging them to read while gently pedaling. Students today are facing increased sedentary behavior, contributing to physical health concerns and reduced academic engagement. Research shows that light physical activity can enhance cognitive function, mood, and focus—key factors in academic success. Many students also struggle with sustained attention while reading, particularly those with ADHD or other attention-related challenges. This program will offer an innovative, multisensory approach to reading, making literacy more engaging while promoting wellness.
