Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a mixed population of Hispanic, Native Americans, African Americans, and Caucasians. We are a Title I elementary school with 100% free breakfast and lunch. Many of our students come to school in the same clothes every day. Our students do not have an opportunity to experience, extracurricular activities at home or outside of school. We do our best to bring current educational trends to our school to benefit our students.

This will be the second year of our "2 Way" school where each child will experience an English and a Spanish instructor.

My Project

Bilingual english/spanish story books will help reinforce their 2nd language learning during the holiday break in December. We have a few bilingual books at school, but they need to stay at school for our class libraries and reading centers. Our students need reinforcement at home and will enjoy the stories of long ago.

The poppit aspect of this project will be used in "popping" out sounds to put cvc words together!

The students love to play reading games with the classroom poppits and would benefit from having one at home to use in word connections!
