My Students
I teach an amazing group of third graders in Los Angeles. My school is a higher poverty level school but there is no limit on learning with the right resources. We are a great multicultural family that loves to learn.
My students want to have newer books in the classroom to read from and learn. Many of my students speak a language other than English at home. All students receive free breakfast, and over 35% receive free or reduced-price lunch.
My Project
My students love learning about the rain forest, so I have requested a class set of the book, Magic Tree House Fact Tracker - Rainforests, so they can each read this great book, which is at their grade level. As we read this book, my students will be able to practice the skill of taking notes, summarizing the main idea and analyzing details from text read.
Several read-alouds will add to their analysis skills and Post It Easel Pads will be used to chart and enhance their learning. IT helps to demonstrate and chart students learnings on large Easel Pads and allow them to review their learnings.
