Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach third grade in a high-poverty school in Georgia. One hundred percent of students in our school receive free breakfast and lunch. My students are diverse in academic ability, socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, and life experience. They are excited about school and love learning new things. My third graders particularly love Science and being able to conduct experiments and learn about the world.
I want to provide my students with the best education possible.
We need partners like you to help us get these resources into our classroom.
My Project
These books will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create. My classroom library is a place that my students really enjoy-I read on the carpet to them, they complete work there, and they read independently! Every book I choose to read to my students is treated with love and care, and they are thankful for the opportunities to read as am I. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind-I have watched them the past few weeks of school while I have introduced a range of literature to them, which has inspired them to read more. Students will be able to choose books, which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time.
With these new books, my students will enjoy a range of stories that will help keep them excited about reading.
They will also be able to choose books that interest them. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in independent reading, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word.
