This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Each child brings something special into our classroom. They all come from a unique family background, including various cultures and languages.The school in which they attend has a network of supportive teachers and administrators.
They lack some of the resources that schools in more affluent communities have the privilege of interacting with.
We come together as a group multiple times a day. My first graders are very eager and creative. They need extra resources from which I can help enhance those creative minds and love of learning.
My Project
Not only are these kids learning to read, but they are also learning to be creative and use their imagination through me doing read aloud. I have requested engaging read alouds to expand their awareness on different authors and award winning books. I have requested for the following books: "David Gets In Trouble," "David Goes to School," "Pete the Cat" all the holiday books, and more books that relate to the first month of school and different situations in first grade. As an individual who really enjoys reading, I believe it is important to model how to read with fluency and show student the correct way to read, I want my students to make text to text, text to self, and text to world connections, to help make them better readers and writers.
Donations to this project will help prepare some very deserving first graders become aware of new words and help them become fluent readers through me modeling and class discussions.
