This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am requesting a back-to-school read-aloud mini-library with titles such as A Letter from My Teacher: First Day of School, First Day Jitters, and Second Grade Here I Come. I believe that books like The Night Before Second Grade can help my students share their feelings and calm their nerves about being in a new class with a new teacher.

Many times the excitement of a new school year also comes with anxiety and nervousness.

My students need to hear these read-aloud books to build community, share feelings, and most importantly learn that they are not alone. Using these books to learn effective communication skills and to put names to their feelings will help them not just in the first weeks of class but the entire year and beyond.
