One of the best parts about teaching ELA in an urban setting is that I get to spark joy for learning, but most importantly, for reading. With several scholars reading below grade level, it is important for me to maintain a classroom with diverse reading materials. Studies suggest that a scholar is more apt to be interested in reading materials that they can relate to. My goal is to obtain a variety of reading materials that scholars will fall in love with and, in turn, aid in increasing fluency and comprehension.
