My Project

Help me put books on the hands of my first graders! Digital resources are great, but nothing beats having a book in your hands. There are so many advantages to reading print over screens and I want my 20 first graders to have access to a full library of paperback books they can borrow and read.

Reading printed materials vs digital increases comprehension.

Scrolling through screens takes mental effort and tends to make us read faster, or skim material. Young students who are learning to read need to have time to interact with their material; we tend to read digital resources faster, affecting our comprehension.

I want to give my students access to a variety of books that are specifically geared to their individual levels. They will have the opportunity to take comprehension quizzes, track their progress, and earn prizes. I hope that they will become inspired to love reading for a lifetime!
