Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is a Title I school in a rural county in Florida. We serve kindergarten through 5th grade. One hundred percent of our students receive free lunch, thanks to a grant our county received.
Our students live up to our school motto of PRIDE.
We challenge each student to be positive, respectful, independent, dedicated learners with high expectations. Our students rise to this challenge each and every day!
I teach second grade with students of varying reading levels. Our teachers work hard to provide rigorous learning opportunities for our students, while these children work hard to meet our high expectations and maintain our A grade.
My Project
My students have requested books in our classroom. When I asked what new books they would like, these are some of the book series they have requested. Some of these will fill in the missing parts of our partial series collection, while some will be a new collection for our classroom library.
My students are begging for new books!
What better way than this student-created project where they get to choose the books. I’m hoping this will help them feel like they have ownership over our classroom library.
Help me turn these young readers into lifelong lovers of literature!
