My wonderful students are blossoming right before my eyes! They are truly eager and active learners, who come in every morning, ready to take on whatever challenges come their way! We are part of a Title I school, in Charlotte, NC, where over 80% of our students are living below the poverty line.
Regardless of any challenges that my students face, I want them to know that they are loved and that our school is a safe place.
Every year I make a promise to my students that as long as they work hard and try their best, I will, in return, work hard for them to have a successful and FUN school year. They truly impress me, every day, with their ability to help each other, share their feelings, and persist through any obstacles.
My Project
At this time, many of my students are reading below their grade level. In order for them to make adequate growth and to be prepared for the next grade, it is necessary for each child to be exposed and enriched with reading material at their own reading level.
At this time, our classroom library lacks books that will provide every child with the opportunity to read at a level in which they can comprehend.
It is necessary for children to be provided and exposed to a variety of reading material, both fiction and non-fiction, in order for them to make the necessary progress.
I am seeking donations for a new classroom library. The library will include books at every child's individual reading level, as well as bins to neatly display the books, in a way in which they will be readily available for use.
