My students need 30 subscriptions to both Scholastic Junior and Choices magazines for in-class discussions, real-world application, and critical-thinking activities.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Burch's classroom raised $718

My Students
A typical day in my classroom involves discussing the history, geography, culture, and so much more of various groups of people both in the world and around our country. My students are inquisitive and ask insightful questions as they learn and explore a wide range of topics.
My students are a diverse group of inner-city learners.
They are eager to apply what they've learned to situations in their own lives. With the addition of two news magazines - Junior Scholastic and Choices - we will be able to touch on real-world news and issues that affect teenagers. Students will get the opportunity to discuss, debate, and extend their learning to a myriad of topics to grow both as students and global citizens.
My Project
Students in my 7th grade and 8th grade classes will be able to summarize brief articles, conduct studies around specific topics that apply to our age group, and write clear arguments. These magazines will provide students with the ability to engage in small group discussions, focus on real world applications and activities, and learn from independent research-based activities. From what we learn and discuss in class, we will bring our viewpoints home to discuss with our families over dinner or teach life lessons to our siblings in the younger grades at our school.
This donation will improve student morale and provide students with the ability to communicate, research, and practice active decision-making skills in their lives both in the present and for the future.
They will benefit from the additional sources of information allowing them to actively participate in college and career readiness skills. Students will become better writers, researchers, thinkers, and debaters!
