My Students
My students are enthusiastic learners and determined readers. In my classroom, we build a community where we encourage each other to become avid lovers of reading. I teach 2nd grade at a Title I-funded school where most of my students don't have access to books in the home. They heavily rely on the books that are in the classroom in order to become better readers.
I continue to strive to provide my students a safe and comfortable learning environment where they can grow and mature as readers, students, and model citizens.
Knowing their diverse backgrounds and interests allows me to provide them with experiences that are applicable and fundamental to their learning.
The titles that were chosen for this project will be added to our classroom library. Students get to select an assortment of books to add to their weekly book boxes. These selected texts will give the students more choices when it comes to independent reading in the classroom.

As a 3rd year, 2nd grade teacher, I am constantly reflecting and learning how to provide my students with memorable learning experiences.
Help me instill a love for reading by giving my students a more diverse book selection in our classroom library.
This reading project will help my students find more books that interest them and ignite a love for reading. I want to give my students the opportunity to have diverse and relatable books to choose from.
